How to participant :

Fill in the online registration form.
Collect beverage cartons to take part in the campaign.
Make sure the beverage cartons are CLEAN and FREE FROM DIRT!!
There is no fee charged to participate in this contest.
The more you collect the more chance you can win.

TERM AND CONDITIONS :

The contest is opened to everyone as you able to pass the beverage cartons to the organizing committees within 20th Feb to 24th Feb.
The contest will be started on 13th Jan 2012 and end on 24th Feb 2012. All the beverage cartons must be submitted on 24th Feb 2012. Place of the submission of the beverage cartons will be informed later.
Grand prize will be awarded to participant who has collected the most amounts of the beverage cartons and 10 mystery gifts will be awarded to next ten winners.
Winners will be notified via MIRACLE by AIESEC UPM fan page on 1st Mac 2012.
Prizes are not exchangeable with cash.
MIRACLE by AIESEC UPM reserves the right to make any changes to the contest rules at any time without prior notification and reserve the right to replace any prize with another of up to the equivalent value without notice.

*Grand prize will be awarded to participant who has collected the most amounts of the Beverage cartons. Prizes are not exchangeable for cash.

The Eco Film Fest 2011

In conjunction with The Eco Film Fest 2011, MIRACLE by AIESEC UPM will conduct activities as below:

MIRACLE Project Showcase - Show pictures, videos, our stakeholders (testimonial, involvement, etc) to visitors. Through this, people will know more what MIRACLE is.
Environment Showcase - to heighten awareness of visitors to the Fest.
Recycle and Reward - let’s recycle. Visitors are welcome to donate any recyclable items to our booth. Free gifts/special goodies will be given as souvenirs.
Green Rangers - for those visit to our booth, have a chance to become Green Ranger on that day with MIRACLE logo or words will be painted on their face. This to show they are supporting ‘Go Green’ and MIRACLE project by AIESEC UPM.
Mix and Match - a green game that will be conducted during the event. Discarded materials and recyclable items will be prepared. Participants need to separate the recyclable items and put it into the respective bin. This activity is aimed to measure the level of awareness of the recycle concept of the participants.
Waste Transformer - Recyclable items will be prepared. Participants can choose the recyclable items and transform it into new products and will be displayed on our booth. After that, visitors can vote for the most creative product and the highest votes will be the winner. Winner will have a chance to receive a mystery gift from us.

With film screenings, green booths and lots more fun and educational stuffs.

A one day event on 5^th June held in Sungei Wang Plaza which involved a few activities relevant to environment issues in conjunction with World Environment Day. The event will be started from 8.00am and ended at 4.00pm.

Event Highlights:

Coloring and drawing contests

-Theme : What does Green Earth means to You

- Categories : Category A (Aged 7 - 9 years old), Category B (Aged 10 – 12 years old)

- Registration fees : RM 10.00 (For each category)

Project Revive 2011 – Beach cleaning event

Hey all,

It is the story sharing time again by our MIRACLE project interns. ^^v

On 18th and 19th March 2011, our interns had went to the Teluk Cempedak, Kuantan to become one of the volunteers of the Project REVIVE 2011 together with a few of our University Putra Malaysia AIESERers and also all of the volunteers that come from different part of the states in Malaysia.

During the event, as a volunteer, I had the chance to take on several different tasks. On the ﬁrst night, right after dinner, there are total seven people including me were assigned to the reception for the day after. There was a person in charge of coordinating the reception that explained thoroughly what the job was about. After getting the counters prepared for registering the people in, I attended the general brieﬁng in which the organizer was making sure every task was covered by a group. During this brieﬁng we were also instructed about the event schedule, we had to wake up very early in the morning and the brieﬁng itself started very late. I can hardly say this was bad because it gave me the opportunity of indulging in the amazing dawn on the beach, that’s something that kick-starts your day up!

We started the registrations at 8am and my task in particular was registering the press in. Also I was asked to promote the “Project Revive” on the social networks, task that I accomplished by inviting every journalist logging in on Facebook and liking the “Project Revive” page. Before opening the counters, the Facebook page had about 450 fans, raising up to more than 550 just at the end of the morning.

After the lunch break I was appointed to a different task, because the day before we planned to make shifts so that everybody could try out different tasks. During the afternoon I had to promote the event to the people on the beach. That was a good chance to improve my selling and promoting skills and, most of all, to learn more about Malaysian culture by talking to the locals. Once the event closed, we had a short brief about what we did, our strengths and weaknesses, so that we could know what to improve in the second day.

I decided to spend the whole second day on the beach, making reception in the morning and promotion during the afternoon. Also I was in charge of managing the sessions of one of the activities we came up with. The activity was about throwing anti-pollution water cleaning organic mud balls into the water. My task was about promoting this activity to the people, gathering them in the pitch on the shore at the right time, lining them up, delivering the mud balls and countdown for the launch.

I found it extremely amusing, even though sometimes it was pretty hard, especially when I had to deal with big groups such as the cyclists one, because I had to register them in, gather them up and explain them the purpose of the activity all at once and I had a short time for doing all of this, but eventually I made it!

When the time for activities was over I had my ﬁrst English-speaking public speech, and the funny thing is that I had no time to practice because all in a while the organizer pop up asking me to jump on the stage and talk about AIESEC. At ﬁrst, I said that maybe I’m not the most suitable one for doing this since I joined AIESEC only two months ago but, the organizer told me “I don’t care, I want YOU to do this!” I was very glad of his choice but still pretty anxious! In the end, as far as I remember, suddenly I came up saying: “ok, I think I can handle this” and one minute later I was giving my speech on the stage. It didn’t last long, I have still to improve my public speech skills, but it was a good start anyway.

In conclusion, I have to say that it was great joining the “Project Revive” as the first activity since I am here in Malaysia because it was a chance for me to improve my skills before having workshops and getting to know more about all the different cultures that this country hosts.

Hey fans,

Recently, we have stayed at the NGO for 3 days and 2 nights. What we can say is that we have done another amazing thing that we like about “MIRACLE” project. We are having the opportunity not only to conduct the workshops, but also to work in famous NGOs (Non-governmental organizations), as we did last week. The name of NGO was “EHomeMakers”, who helps disadvantaged single parent women all over Malaysia to make eco-friendly product -“Eco baskets”. Each basket is hand-woven from used magazines by low-income mothers to support their families from their own homes.

It was an amazing experience for us to work with such an inspiring person like Ching Ching(the founder of EHomeMakers). Ching Ching was working in UN Egypt in the past, she had a master in Business Administration from a reputable university outside Malaysia, but she decided to come back to Malaysia because she wants to be a full time mother for her only child, Roman. People thought that she must be crazy because she just let all the things out of her hand, her career, her fancy apartment in Cairo, and her husband who leaves her for another woman. It was a pretty long and difficult time for her and her child, Roman, but she still move on and always strive for the life. She always encourages herself and also a lot of Malaysian women to be more independent even if they were a single parent or may be have disability kids.

When we stayed at her place, we helped Ching Ching and other volunteer to promote eco baskets through the internet and spread them all over the world with media. Micha was translating the website into German language; Mafuyu into Japan; Veronica and Nadia were working on updating the “EhomeMaker’s” website. As for me, I was doing the bar code of all products, creating a database in software program. So, this NGO provided us with accommodation and food, and there was another intern from USA, called Mariya, who helped us to get introduced into everything and assisted in implementation of our tasks. Ann, the other employee at Ehomemakers also helped us to figure out why their ecobaskets are really unique. As a handicraft, ecobaskets has a very artistic patterns and every baskets are different, because it was handmade!

In conclusion we would like to say that these three days showed me how the prosperous business can be eco-friendly and can help so many women in supporting their families. And it is also good to our environment because those baskets are made from unused magazines that have low carbon footprints. We also understood that doing “Eco baskets” is also one of the best ways of reusing and recycling. As the MIRACLE team, of course we were so excited to know more about EhomeMakers and ecobaskets, we hope that more Malaysian peoples give their attention to women development and environment like Ching Ching did.

Hey fans,

It is a pleasure for us to share to you all about our second workshop which was held at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Perimbun on 18 February 2011.

It takes almost 1 hour to go there from UPM. We were very surprised and excited when we knew that we had more than 100 students which including both boys and girls in the class. It was quite a huge amount of students which is twice as big as the last workshop that we have conducted.

We startled to be nervous, we were afraid that we cannot control them to focus in our workshop. They were quite smart but they didn’t really participate actively, maybe because the workshopisconducted in Friday evening and all students were sleepy.

That’s why we always remember that the second workshop was like a test for us, it forced us to improve our presentation skills and become more concern on details of the contents.

Actually, before the workshop we have already prepared more details in our slides and games, but after the presentation we learnt that all the efforts itself is not enough, we have to make our presentation more flexible with every condition, and be well prepared if the amount of audience are more than what we expected. For example, the game that we have prepared are for less than 100 students. So when we did the game, there were students who couldn't really participate in the game.

Sometimes, you happened to be in a situation which you never expected. So, what we need to do is to use the imagination to think of any possible situations that we can be in, and be well prepared. The most important is do not get panic and analyze the situation you are in and see what you can do.

But it was an unforgetable experience , because it makes us to want to improve ourselves since then on what kind of techniques we can use to make the students more active and so to make our next workshop even better.

It is the times for the second batch of our MIRACLE Project team to share about their memorable experiences after conducting their workshop in SMK Sri Aman, Petaling Jaya on 14 February 2011.

The first workshop that we’ve conducted was in one of the best schools of Kuala Lumpur, where only girls study. This school is famous for their activities regarding the environment. The school had garden to grow plants, water system that uses the rainwater, and was carrying on a campaign for zero-Styrofoam, which goal is to emit zero Styrofoam. This school has been working on the environmental issue since the MIRACLE forum they attended last time. It's good to hear that the MIRACLE actually moved some people's mind that it made them actually start those campaigns.

All those students who participated in our one and half hour workshop were already the members of environmental club at school and had some basic knowledge about the environmental issues and the experience in recycling. Therefore, we decided to present our slides with our own style but because lack of time, we don’t have enough time to prepare everything.

Luckily that the students all really pay full attention about it. They have asked a lot of questions, and they participate actively. Maybe the contents of our slides were too easy for them, but we believe they also got something new from our workshop, like sustainability and 5R values.

We were so impressed by how fast they learn about sustainability and the application of 5Rs. Moreover, we are glad to be participated in this project because we can help others with knowledge sharing, and of course it can help us to improve a lot in presentation skills, teamwork, and communications.

After the first part of our workshop, we presented our country presentations, namely Kazakhstan, Germany, Japan and Indonesia. There was an interesting fact to mention about is that Mafuyu, our colleague from Japan had an outstanding popularity among the students during the presentation as they always asking for her email address and facebook contact name.

We can also say that all the girls presented our part of the workshop very well, being confident and interactive. So, we can conclude that this workshop was very interesting and amazing.

Internship in Malaysia

Hey fans :

It is the story sharing from our first batch of intern Ivy from Hong Kong :

I had my internship in Malaysia at the University Putra Malaysia (UPM) for 6 weeks and has worked on the MIRACLE Project which is about environmental issues. I worked there with another intern from Belgium who named Quentin. The goal of our project is to create positive impact in society by arousing the awareness of environmental protection among the youth in shelter homes and secondary schools.

Our jobs include conducting workshops, meeting with NGOs with green issues such as Ecolight and attending local AIESEC events and meetings. Through working in the project, I can gain some personal and professional development ,for example : communication, analytical thinking, multicultural awareness, etc. For instance, we have to prepare the schedule and materials for every workshop because our target audiences changes every time. Sometimes we had to do the presentation in front of 200 Form 4 students at the school hall while next time we had to play related games with 15 children around 10 years old. This flexibility enables me to practice strategic planning and be more creative so that we can improve our performance each time and inspire the students as much as possible.

Not only can I develop some valuable skills during the workshops, but also can exchange some cultural sharing with the local youngsters who have impressed me a lot. Usually we will include a cultural sharing part after showing them the recycling videos and playing the 5R’s game, I can feel their passion to learn more about another country by keep asking me questions about Hong Kong. I feel warm and close by sharing with them my own country and sometimes we will even chat after the workshop so that we can have a better understanding about different countries.And I feel even more happy and excited when I know that they have received the message and knowledge that we try to educate them on the sustainability issues.

In conclusion, I have gained international exposure by working with people from diverse backgrounds and helped to spread the message of maintaining sustainable in the world among the youth. In addition, I have boosted my self-confident by having more experience of presenting in front of many students and build a global network. One of the memorable things that I have gained is to meet many friendly and helpful friends from all over the world (Malaysia, Belgium, Greek, Brazil, Australia…) which I will never forget in my life.

Sharing From The MIRACLE Intern

This is the story from our interns, Quentin after the six weeks of internship in Malaysia :

My development internship in Malaysia was an experience from which I gained a lot and that had changed my way of thinking about cultural understanding forever.

The project in which I took part consisted of going to schools and shelter homes around the area of Kuala Lumpur to raise awareness amongst the youth about environmental and sustainability issues. As part of a team of other international interns, I had to conduct workshops about Malaysian environmental situation (which is much worst than in Europe) in order to make the students more concerned about those issues. Besides this, we had also to do some voluntary work for some local NGO’s in order to impact positively on the environment.

On the one hand, I had the opportunity to share my ideas about sustainability for which I’ve always very concerned, and on the other hand, I could work in a multicultural environment along with the other international interns, the local organizing committee of the project and the Malaysian students. Indeed, Malaysia’s population is composed of a mix of Muslim, Chinese and Indian cultures that makes the country diverse in all senses of the word.

Of course I have improved my communication and project management skills, but what I will remember the most is the experiences that i have gained when I take part to a common project for which I believe in, along with other AIESECers from all over the world. And the simple fact of acting all together to impact positively on society helped me to create strong friendships that I would have never expected.

This video below was created by the HOPE and MIRACLE 1st batch interns 2011 in AIESEC University Putra Malaysia. Six people from five different countries, four different continents: Ivy Cheng and Olivia Ho from Hong Kong, Jessica Malcolm from Australia, Mike Pagalakis from Greece, Pedro Bandeira from Brazil and Quentin Delacroix from Belgium. We had been in Malaysia for six weeks participating in two Develoment Internships, one based on raising awareness among youth about HIV and AIDS and the other on addressing the issues of the environment and sustainability in Malaysia.

We are all very proud and grateful for having this unique, life changing Aiesec Experience. We had the chance to develop ourselves further in several areas such as presentation skills, communication skills, management skills, teamwork. We each realised new potentials, challenged our preconcieved ideas and expanded our global network and horizons.

Workshop at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Infant Jesus Convent School

Dear fans,

On 21 & 22 January 2011, we had went to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Infant Jesus Convent School in Melaka.

Arriving in the school was already a great experience in itself. At first sight we wasn’t so at ease while walking along the corridor and crossing all those girls in uniform asking themselves what we was doing here. But after the workshop started and the ice broken, we had a great exchange with those girls.

The first workshop in this school was a good training for the becoming ones. The presentation was good but the most impressed was still the cartoon video. we were happy to see their basic knowledge about the environment and that we could still teach them a lot of things about sustainability.

This workshop was totally different and for sure very challenging. Indeed, we had to conduct a presentation in front of more than 150 students. But here the microphone was more than necessary and we need to make sure the audience can listen to what we were saying was more complicated. But, still, speaking in front of such an audience is a great experience and you realize how your project can be impacted by others.

On the next day and this is also the last workshop in Malacca’s school was the most successful. Provided with more time, we had the opportunity to interact more and do some more cultural sharing. Not shy at all, the girls didn’t hesitate to ask very different kind of question. We had also the chance to promote deeply the MYC (Miracle Youth Conference) that will hold in early June in order to raise as many participants as possible to make this event a great success.

We will definitely keep an unforgettable memory of this school. The atmosphere there, the respect and complicity between students and teachers, the welcome that we received will stay in our mind. The best thing of this experience is that it is more an exchange than simple presentations; you try to share ideas with them about issues that concern you but they give you so much in return that you go back with more than with what you arrived.

Workshop at Agathians Shelter

Hey fans,

On Thursday, 13 January 2011, we had the pleasure to visit another shelter home Agathians Shelter which is located at the Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

For this shelter home, there is no need for ice breaking activities at all ! We hadn’t entered yet the house that those kids between 7 and 12 years old are so warmly welcome us and they started to jump and hang at us.

We are not sure they understood all we tried to teach them about environmental issues but it is better to educate people about the importance of environmental protection in their young ages and so that they can be equipped of some basic knowledge of the environment.

However, they are really had a lot of fun with us and they were happy to see someone from another country.

It was a good experience and it reminds us how difficult it is sometimes to stay calm and patient. The boys are energetic and funny and we all have a great fun this time, especially during the painting section.

But since they are just around the age of 7 to 10 years old, sometimes it is a bit difficult for us to manage the event and continue our presentation. Therefore, it is in those moments that you will realize how the teamwork can be important.

Anyway, we’ll keep good memories of those kids and also of the Indian intern from AIESEC UM working there who was very friendly and helpful.

Hey fans,

It is a pleasure to share our experiences and we hope that through these sharing, we can convey at least some lessons and insignt we have gained from working on the MIRACLE project's workshop. As the saying goes " Sharing is caring " right ??

On Tuesday, 11 January of 2011 , we have worked for our first workshop at the Rumah Shalom at Puchong,Selangor which actually was a shelter home which vision is to provide these unfortunate children love, care, moral, spiritual value and education in a family environment.

This is our first workshop and when we started the workshop we realized how the audience was paying attention to what we were going to share with them. Even if at first sight those boys and girls between 14 and 17 years old were a little bit shy but after a few ice breaking activities,and we have prepared some presentation to make sure that they are aware of the current serious pollution in Malaysia and they were ready to express their own views about environmental issues.

We really enjoy the discussion because we can have more interaction with them and guide them to think in the right direction.

We feel proud of them when we saw them presenting in front of us, since we know they have learn the knowledge from us and we have reached our objectives.

At the end of the session, we separated the group between boys and girls in order to share some information and pictures about our countries.

We could see how interested they were because of asking us a lot of questions. I also had the idea to make them listen to a famous Belgian hip-hop singer.

We would say that this first workshop was a real success. From the moment we enter the home and the moment we leave it, we’re not the same person because we know that we did something we believe in and for the contribution of others. The moment that impressed us is that when we had to say goodbye to them and they came to you one by one to thank you for having visiting them.
